SanaRose Apothecary

Inspired by the traditional home remedies of ‘Grandma Mama’ with the nostalgia of the popular Hispanic saying ‘sana sana colita de rana…’ this business needed a new logo and brand identity which elevated the experience of their healing products. This project was close to home as Grandma Mama wasn’t just this business owner’s grandma but my great-grandma as well.

Responsive Logo

The original logo featured a clipart rose as the centerpiece along with a script typeface. Keeping the rose element was important to this client so we built the identity around it. Adding to the nostalgia we aimed to keep the old school feel of an apothecary while bringing it to the 21st century with some clean and interesting type and bold colors. At first I went a minimal route with muted colors and slightly abstract line work (which you can see on the left slide above) but that was a little too pared down and mildly boring. In the end we went with a more realistic rendering of the rose and the Crayonette typeface which kept a bit of the elegance the original script was aiming for.

Social Media

With the goods of this business revolving around smell and feel, two things which one can’t experience through a screen, it was important to create a feeling through their visuals. The photographer set up some beautiful shots with different elements that represented the scents of each product. We took these images and adjusted the colors to be warm & rich while adding grain to infuse a cozy, vintage feeling.
