‘Spirit’ is a piece I created towards the end of 2022 to empower communities of color with a mantra that reminds them to continue being boldly expressive and joyful in their pursuit towards liberation. In 2023 the piece was submitted to the Celebrature 2023 contest fun by Puzzles of Color calling for artwork which celebrated the culture of people of color to be turned into a puzzle. ‘Spirit’ was selected out of hundreds to be in the 15 finalists which went up for voting ultimately winning alongside ‘Shelton Johnson Calls’ by Amuri Morris.
